UP to 350 jobs are at risk at Linkage Community Trust, which has sites in Louth and Mablethorpe.
The charity says the jobs are at risk because of a ‘significant drop’ in the number of studnets funded to attend its independent specialist college which provides further education for learning disabled students.
Linkage operates from 60 sites across Lincolnshire with a vocational training centre on the Fairfield Industrial Estate and a college site in Louth as well as some care provision. At Mablethorpe they have Linkage Green in Stanley Avenue and some residential care provision.
A statement said: “The responsibility for deciding which students are funded to attend specialist colleges was recently devolved to local councils. In the current academic year a few authorities exercised their powers so that the number of learning disabled students attending Linkage College from their area reduced very significantly, despite funding being available.
“In particular Lincolnshire Councty Council, whose area had historically provided over a quarter of students joining the college, supplied only one new student.”
The county council said: “Young people continue to be referred to Linkage when they are the most appropriate and local provider that can meet their needs.
