IT will be a day for celebration in the small community of Burgh on Bain on Saturday April 28 as it is to be the official opening day for their new Community Centre at the Parish Church of St Helens.
The ward County Councillor Hugo Marfleet is to present a plaque to mark the opening and the short ceremony will take place at 1pm. There will be refreshments and other activities afterwards as the celebration continues and all are invited to share the special occasion with the residents. It is the result of years of negotiation, application for grants and fundraising by a small but dedicated team who have worked tirelessly to bring the project to completion and they have been loyally supported by friends and neighbours who have helped with raising funds locally.
They are most grateful to the grant providers too and these include the Lincs Wolds Countryside Service, Lincolnshire County Council, the National Churches Trust, the Garfield Weston Foundation and Allchurches Trust which has totalled nearly £40,000 while the balance of £8,000 has been raised through the generosity of many local people.
