NORTH Thoresby and its forthcoming 1940s weekend on September 10 and 11 seemed, at one time, to be in some danger of becoming mired in ‘trench warfare’ as Anglian Water continued their water mains renewal work in the village.
However the organisers of the weekend say a rethink of tactics and strategy and some ‘quick and sympathetic action’ by Anglian Water has seen the ‘skirmish’ resolved.
Anglian Water have given an assurance to tidy up all works prior to the event thus minimising any disruption to the weekend and, in addition, have also very kindly and generously agreed to sponsor the event.
A village spokesperson said: “It just goes to show that some utilities and large corporations do care about community and customers.”
The weekend sees events also taking place at Fulstow and the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway at Ludborough, with transport between the three sites.
