THE future of Louth’s Peacocks clothes store is unclear after Edinburgh Woollen Mill bought out the troubled high street chain today (Wednesday).
The deal sees the Dumfries-based company purchase all 611 Peacocks stores and 49 concessions across Britain.
The firm has announced that 3,100 jobs will be cut, but their spokesman was unable to comment on individual stores at present.
Louth’s Peacocks store in Eastgate is across the road from the town’s Edinburgh Woollen Mill.
Peacocks went into administration in January because of its heavy debts.
The Louth store employs 13 members of staff.
