Company's cash boost for Louth 13+ Project

The Louth 13+ Project, based in Park Avenue, is a registered charity which gives young people the opportunity to socialise and put their ideas into action in a safe and fun environment.

Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey – which is preparing to launch new homes at its St James’ View development later this year – has helped the charity as part of its ongoing commitment to support communities in which it builds.

Brenda Maltby, Youth and Community Development Worker at the Louth 13+ Project, said: “We work very hard to give young people in Louth a place to go. Adults have so many places to socialise and we think young people should have somewhere as well.”

She continued: “Young people today spend a lot of time on their phones and tablet devices and it’s affecting their social skills. We think it’s really important to make sure they still develop vital social skills because they will need them later in life.”

The Louth 13+ Project is run by a management committee and volunteers, some of whom have previously used the service themselves.

Every Tuesday and Friday, the charity hosts a drop-in evening session between 7pm and 9pm, giving visitors the chance to meet new people, relax and unwind.

Brenda continued: “Taylor Wimpey’s generous donation will be going towards the running costs of our evening sessions to make sure we can maintain them throughout the summer holidays.

“As we get bigger it is inevitable that we are going to need more funding, so we want to say thank you so much to Taylor Wimpey for recognising the need for the Louth 13+ Project with this generous donation.”

Lucie Grundy, Sales Manager for Taylor Wimpey East Midlands, said: “When we heard about the work that the Louth 13+ Project does in the town we knew straight away this was something we wanted to get involved with.

“We’re very proud to show our support for this amazing charity which does such wonderful work in the local community and we hope our donation will benefit the many young people who use the project.”
