Farming talk for Sutton on Sea WI

NOVEMBER’S Sutton on Sea WI meeting saw guest speaker Chris Blethin, from Edin Farm, discuss the trials and tribulations of his work in small holdings.

He told the members stories from his past both happy and sad, including getting stuck in the mud in his new Land Rover and being helped out by passers-by, as well as foxes killing his farm’s ducks.

Chris had moved to Lincolnshire in 2006 after three years of preparation for the big move.

The meeting was also a special one with the group celebrating the birthday of their oldest member, Francis Cooper, who is 99 years of age! A birthday cake was enjoyed by all.

There was a good selection of savoury recipes entered into the competition, Joyce Looker winning with Kay Raby second and Jean White third.

Flower of the month was a salmon pink geranium entered by Kath Riggle.
