Louth Canal energy company to hold public exhibition

Turbines

THE company which wants to build three wind turbines next to Louth Canal wants to hear the views of local people.

Partnerships for Renewables has submitted a planning application to East Lindsey District Council to build the turbines at Fen Lane, North Thoresby.

Dr Jo Fleming, regional manager at PfR, said: “We have now completed all the environmental and technical studies on the site, which have confirmed our belief that the site is an appropriate one for wind energy development.

“We believe the land is suitable for three turbines which will stand at a maximum tip height of 113.5 metres and could generate up to 16.4 gigawatt hours (GWh) of green electricity every year – enough to power approximately 3,680 homes.

“In addition, the proposed turbines could also displace up to approximately 7,062 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.”

If the development goes ahead there will be a community benefit fund associated with the turbines which would generate up to £18,750 per year for the life of the project. This money will be placed in an independently-managed fund available to the local community to be spent ‘as it sees fit’.

A public exhibition to see the proposed plans will be held today (Wednesday, May 2) at North Thoresby Village Hall from 10am-3pm.

People who are unable to attend the exhibition but have comments to make can contact PfR on 0800 7317395 or email community@pfr.co.uk .
