Withern students cook up some tasty treats
Hollie Pocklington and Megan Bullivant, of Pocklingtons Bakers, with pupils from St Margaret's School in Withern: Imogen Reeves, Jake Thompson, Tegan Morris, Ellie Turner, Liam Peach ,and Joseph Bryant.
Youngsters from St Margaret’s School in Withern cooked up delicious sweet treats as part of Craft Bakers Week recently.
Hollie Pocklington from local bakers Pocklingtons Butchers visited the school and taught the children how to make chocolate dough biscuits and decorate them with icing.
Chocolate is currently a hot topic at the school as it is the chosen term topic for the International Primary Curriculum.
The children are investigating where and how chocolate appears on our supermarket shelves from the beans of the cocoa tree, to the fermentation and drying process, to exporting and marketing as well as looking at healthy eating. Hollie’s visit follows a recent visit to the school by chocolatiers who showed the children how to design and make a chocolate lollipops.
The whole school had a great day and each child went home with bags of individually designed biscuits and cookies.
