The results of the Leader’s Best Bar 2014 competition have finally been revealed - and the winner is Cobbles Bar in New Street, Louth.
After weeks of public voting to find out which of our five shortlisted bars is the most loved by local people, the popular Cobbles Bar swooped to victory ahead of runner up The Brown Cow, along with other contenders including The Greyhound Inn, The Wheatsheaf, and The Royal Oak Inn (The Splash) in Little Cawthorpe.
Cobbles owner Ben Young said he was “very proud” to have won the competition, and put the success down to the dedicated customers who visit the bar regularly.
Mr Young said: “We seem to have a very good community here and it’s down to the diversity of the place, I suppose.
“In the daytime it’s all coffees, people doing shopping and pensioners coming in, but in the afternoon and evenings there’s a bit more of a drinking trade, and at the weekends we have live music.
“We keep the beers good, and we get a lot of comments about how friendly and nice the staff are. It’s just an honest, good fun, nice and relaxing place to be.
“We also have the quiz each week which is well attended and has been popular since it started.
“I’d like to thank my staff, my family and our customers.”
