A visitor guide to Skegness, Mablethorpe and the Wolds produced by East Lindsey District Council and the Skegness, East Coast and Wolds Hospitality Association (SECWHA) has received a national award.
The annual Skegness, Mablethorpe and the Lincolnshire Wolds visitor guide took third place in the Carrier Group Website and Brochure Awards presented at the British Destination’s Annual Conference.
In 2012 50,000 copies of the magazine were produced to be distributed across the country, with a focus on the Midlands.
This year 65,000 copies were printed and requests for copies were up 60 per cent by the end of June compared to the same period last year.
The 56 page, full colour A4 guide was named in the Brochure category where it was praised for its modern magazine-style look, and its ‘bold’ selling messages which showcased the wide variety on offer to the visitor.
The council’s Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure and Tourism, Councillor Adam Grist, said: “This visitor guide showcases some of the best of the east coast and the Lincolnshire Wolds.
“There are such diverse offerings that East Lindsey really does appeal to everyone, whether they are looking for a traditional beach holiday, quiet get-away or an all action break.
“Anecdotal evidence already shows that bookings in the area have been made as a direct result of the brochure being targeted to the West Midlands this year – among other areas.
“We hope to build on its success, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.”
The award was presented by Ali Bruce of The Carrier Group and MP Gordon Marsden President of British Destinations.
