A GROUP of local residents are organising a Charity Dinner at Louth Town Hall on Friday June 24 in aid of Cancer Research UK.
It is in memory of two of their close colleagues from East Lindsey District Council who died of cancer earlier this year - Martin Walmsley, Food for Life Coordinator, and Sharon Hopkin, Health Trainer.
The group have been raising money over the last few months, including running the Lincoln 10K, and are now putting their efforts into organising this Charity Black Tie Dinner, in conjunction with The Brackenborough Arms Hotel.
They are appealing for local business support, in the form of table sponsorship. For a donation of £50 businesses can receive advertising on that table on the evening.
Amanda Warrent, Cancer Research UK’s Area Volunteer Manager for Lincolnshire, said: “I would like to thank the organisers of this Charity Ball for their hard work and commitment to making the evening a huge success and our hearts go out to the families of Martin Walmsley and Sharon Hopkin.
“Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer and continues to do so. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research.”
