A former soldier’s journey around Britain’s coastline will soon stop off in Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea as locals prepare a welcome like no other.

Christian Nock, 39, started his crusade to highlight the awareness of the many ex-servicemen and women who end up on the streets by embarking on the ultimate challenge.

Since August 8 last year Christian has been sleeping rough as he walks along Britain’s coastline raising funds for Help for Heroes which has already tipped over £68,000.

“I am really looking forward to reaching Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea and seeing what is in store during my time here,” Christian said.

Now as Christian’s trek has been estimated to venture to Sutton on Sea and Mablethorpe by the weekend, residents are gathering momentum to give him the best greeting possible.

Resident Peter Spybey was called upon for his experience in events organising to help lead the way in bringing forward as many people as possible to show their support towards the cause.

He said: “Christian is doing an amazing thing going round and raising awareness for our homeless ex-servicemen and women.

“He is really doing a great job to promote the call for this much needed support and this is the main reason why I wanted to help organise something to welcome him to our town.”

Included among the festivities is ex-marine Jamie Bishop who had a stroke nine-years-ago which left him struggling to walk.

Hearing about Christian’s story has sparked the inspiration for Jamie to raise funds and aims to walk 60 yards across Mablethorpe’s promenade to walk by Christian’s side.

Christian added: “I am really looking forward to walking side by side with Jamie. It is an absolute honour.”
