The Co-operative Food has announced plans to open a new convenience store in Sutton on Sea which will bring in 20 new jobs to the town.
The supermarket chain has agreed a deal to open a store on the site of the former McEwans Garage in Station Road.
Subject to construction work progressing as planned, the new store is expected to open in early 2016.
It will have a sales area of around 2,800 sq ft and dedicated car parking spaces.
It is expected that around 20 new full and part time jobs will be created.
Paresh Pancholi, The Co-operative Food’s regional acquisitions manager for the area, said: “The Co-operative hopes to serve the Sutton on Sea and open a fresh new convenience store by early 2016.
“The new store would have a focus on fresh, healthy food and essentials, dedicated car parking spaces and, create up to 20 new full and part time jobs.
“In addition, as a community retailer, it would play an active part in local life – the location is ideal for us, and we are very confident the new store will be an asset to the area.”
