A public consultation event about Kier Homes’ plans to build 48 homes off Kettering Road, opposite Stamford AFC’s current ground, is being held on Thursday at Stamford Arts Centre from 1pm to 7pm.
The drop-in session is for members of the public to view the draft planning proposal and talk to a planning consultant on the issue.
Kier Homes has submitted a screening opinion to South Kesteven District Council but is still to submit a planning application for the site.
Developers must submit a screening opinion to find out whether an environmental impact assessment is needed.
A protest group, called Stamford! Protect Our Green Spaces, has been formed to fight plans to build on the greenfield land on the outskirts of Stamford.
The group is concerned about the loss of an iconic view of Stamford, the impact of extra traffic in Kettering Road, particularly as plans to demolish the football ground opposite to make way for 54 homes have already been approved.
The protest group members also do not want to lose the three public footpaths that cross the field.
