THE proposed merger of Monks’ Dyke Technology College in Louth and Tennyson High School in Mablethorpe has been given the go ahead.
Lincolnshire County Council saw no significant opposition to the merger, which will see the schools become the Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College over the two sites from September.
The two schools have worked closely together since 2008.
Executive Headteacher Dr Chris Rolph said: “We’re glad the decision has been made so that we can start planning for September in detail.
“It’s great to be able to build on the strengths of the schools but at the same time to have something of a fresh start, reminding people of our values and our commitment to excellence.
“We’ve already made a huge difference to the choice and opportunities available to Mablethorpe students in particular, and this decision makes the relationship permanent.”
