THIEVES have stolen two breathing apparatus sets from the fire station at North Somercotes.

The station, in Churchill Road, was targetted between 9pm on Saturday, September 10 and 9am the following Monday morning.

Offenders gained entry to the station via unknown means and proceeded to steal two Inter Spiro breathing apparatus sets from the fire engine.

PC Rian Crombie, from Louth Police Station, said: “This equipment is vital apparatus that allows fire fighters to be able to enter smoke filled buildings and save the lives of the occupants inside.

“Theft of equipment from any of the emergency services is both reckless and selfish and we would urge anyone with information about this crime to come forward in confidence.”

Anyone who does have any information on this matter is urged to contact Louth Police Station on 0300 111 0300 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
