As reported over the weekend, the derelict house in Main Road, Gayton Top was set alight shortly after 1am on Sunday morning.

Firefighters from Alford, Louth and Mablethorpe were scrambled to the blaze and used two hose reels and one main jet were used to extinguish the fire.

The building has been the subject of several burglaries and incidents of vandalism while it has been empty.

The blaze caused ‘severe damage’ to the derelict property and police are currently in the process of liaising with the owner and investigating the circumstances of the arson attack.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area should contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident 32 of March 3.
