An elderly lady has had her purse stolen while shopping in Louth town centre this morning, Wednesday April 15.

She bought an item from a shop and recalls placing the purse back into her handbag. When she arrived at the next shop she was visiting, the purse had gone.

This occurred at about midday today. Incident 162 15/04/2015.

A police spokeswoman said: “Please be vigilant as this is not the first incident of a purse being stolen whilst shopping in the town centre area we have received in the last few weeks. If you see anyone acting suspiciously please inform Lincolnshire Police as soon as possible.

“We do still have a limited number of free purse bells which we would like to encourage people to use on their purses in the hope that they would hear should anyone try and remove the purse from their bag. Please contact one of your local PCSOs to request one of these.

“Please ensure that you are vigilant when out and about shopping, try and be aware of anyone who is near to you when purchasing items who might be trying to see where you are placing your purse. Always ensure that your bag is fully fastened before leaving any shops and keep your bag as close to you as possible at all times.”
