A Nottingham man has been given a suspended prison sentence after a damaging 18 cars in Victoria Road, Mablethorpe during a drunken spree.
Benjamin Gilson, 21, of Pyatt Street, pleaded guilty to causing £1,606 worth of damage on August 25 last year.
Lincoln Crown Court heard Gilson slashed vehicles’ tyres with a hammer but denied causing the damage, only admitting it when his DNA was found on the knife. He pleaded guilty at Skegness Magistrates’ Court in January. The defence said Gilson had no recollection of the night, has severe Asperger’s syndrome and cares for his brother.
The appearance took into account a suspended sentence for criminal damage and common assault from 2011. Gilson was given a five month sentence suspended for two years, a curfew and 12 months’ supervision.
