A man was injured when he disturbed an intruder trying to burgle his home.

This offence took place at around 2am on Monday, April 21 at a house in Grove Road, Sutton on Sea.

One of the householders, man in his 60s, disturbed the intruder who hit him with a lamp, causing a minor graze to his chin. He also threw a table at him as he fled from the premises empty-handed.

The offender was last seen near to the junction of Grove Road and Park Road.

He is described as a white male, aged 17 or 18, slim build with short hair. He was wearing a grey bomber jacket.

It seems that the offender gained entry to the premises via an insecure conservatory window. As the warmer weather approaches it is important that householders make sure that their doors and windows are secure before they retire for the night.
