District Councillor is given cultural committee post

THE LEADER of the East Lindsey District Council, Coun Doreen Stephenson, has been awarded a presitigous national position on one of the UK’s most influential cultural committees.

She will now sit on the Local Government Association’s Culture, Tourism and Sport Programme Board after being recognised for her work in East Lindsey to improve the economy through cultural festivals and sport.

Coun Stephenson said: “I am delighted that our work here in East Lindsey is felt to be of such a standard that it can influence national policy. I will be working hard with the board to ensure that we do all we can to secure maximum economic benefit from the Olympics and a lasting legacy that results in healthier communities.”
