PLANS are going ahead for the Jubilee celebrations at Donington on Bain which will include a picnic from 12.30pm to 3.30pm followed by a dance in the evening from 8pm until midnight on Saturday June 2.
Everyone is invited to take along their picnic so that they can enjoy a celebration meal together in the village primary school grounds when there will also be a fancy dress competition for the children.
They are being encouraged to wear outfits that reflect the fashions or personalities of the last 60 years such as punks or hippies or perhaps there are some would be Elvis Presley types out there rather than the usual fancy dress styles.
The adults are invited to dress up too for the evening bop to be held in the village hall, but rather than the usual party outfits they are also being encouraged to wear something from the era to add to the party atmosphere.
There will be dancing to music by John Read with sounds of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and refreshment will be available from the licensed bar. Entry will be by ticket only and these will be on sale soon and while children will be welcome, they must be accompanied by an adult.
