SCHEDULES are now available for the Barkwith and District Gardener’s Association Evening Show to be held at East Barkwith Village Hall on Friday September 2 and they can be obtained from committee members or the village post office.
The show is open to members of the association and anyone living within a five mile radius of East Barkwith and there are 26 classes to choose from in the sections for fruit and vegetables, flowers and floral art. There are trophies for the exhibitors gaining the most points in the respective sections with the Hugh Noble Rose Bowl for flowers, the Betty Horton Cup for vegetables and the Barry Denny Cup for floral art plus the Ernie Smith Memorial Trophy for the best dahlia and the Margaret Fairbank Memorial Trophy for the best pot grown fuchsia. Committee members will be at the hall from 7pm to accept entries until closing for judging at 7.45pm and during this period refreshments will be available in the committee room with competitions to keep everyone entertained.
Once the judges have completed their task the hall will open for public viewing of the exhibits with the prize winning tickets displayed followed by the presentation of trophies and prizes.
