HOUSEHOLDERS are being reminded to be vigilant against unauthorised waste carriers and that anyone offering to dispose of waste should be able to prove they are legally allowed to.
East Lindsey District Council is reminding the community after a number of fly tips in the district that have not only been a blight on the landscape but expensive to clear up.
Registered waste carriers carry a formal identification from the Environment Agency and should be able to show this upon request.
Failing to dispose of waste properly can lead to a fine of £5,000.
Since April this year East Lindsey District Council has cleared 526 flytips.
