New head is settling into life on the Wolds

Anna Hall took on the role in April, following the retirement of long-serving predecessor Sue Beveridge.

The Wolds village school is very different to her previous school in Derby, where she had been head of school within a federation.

“I was looking for a new challenge and, when I saw the advert for a headteacher at Binbrook, I just felt drawn to it,” said Miss Hall.

“The children have so many opportunities here – forest school, choir, cookery club and lots more life skill learning, while also ensuring they make maximum progress and achieve their potential.”

The first term is a steep learning curve for any new head, but Miss Hall says she is enjoying the challenge.

“It is a privilege to work with such hard-working and sociable children ,whom I have got to know well in a few short weeks,” she said.

“The staff, parents and governors are all dedicated to providing an education of the highest quality for every child; I am proud and excited to have the opportunity to be part of this team.”

Before Binbrook

“ I always wanted to be a teacher, but, when I did my A-levels, I fancied going into social work,” said Miss Hall.

“I quickly realised teaching was what I wanted after all – you can inspire and see results, while also working in a team.

“I did my post-graduate teacher training in Manchester and stayed on to teach there for five years, before returning to my home city of Derby.”

“You could say I worked my down; I started teaching in the upper juniors and worked my way through the ages, ending with the very young children, before becoming head.”
