Cordeaux Academy students celebrate the best GCSE results.

Cordeaux Academy celebrated the best GCSE results in its history in this summer’s examinations, 57 per cent of students will have achieved the key benchmark of 5A*-C GCSE grades including English and Maths which is above target and on a rising trend.

These were the first results since conversion to become an Academy sponsored by the Academies Enterprise Trust in January 2013.

Highest performing students included Philippa Cook, whose results included 8A*/A grades and David Dixon who achieved four of the top grades.

Brave Pippa’s achievement was all the more poignant because of the great resilience and fortitude she demonstrated in continuing her studies after the death of her father during the past year. Pippa moves on to study A levels and aspires to a career in Law.

A majority of students will now progress to the Cordeaux Sixth Form with its developing Professional Pathways curriculum model which offers greater choice and opportunity to students in the Louth area.

Typical examples of the variety of different progression routes include Ryan Wrisdale returning to do a Construction course, Joe Marshall undertaking a prestigious Engineering Apprenticeship with DS Smith and Chloe Chafer on a small Animal Care course.

Principal Peter Kubicki said: “We are delighted to continue the upward trend in our results against a backdrop of increasingly more exacting national standards. These successful results are testament to the determined efforts of students supported by our conscientious staff who are always willing to go the extra mile in doing the best for all our young people.”
