MP and Father of the House of Commons Sir Peter Tapsell made a flying visit to Louth on Friday to check up on the state of local education.

He popped into King Edward VI Grammar School and met Headteacher James Lascelles to discuss some important local issues and congratulate the school on their record exam results.

Sir Peter said: “I need to know about local issues and I like to know what’s going on. I’m interested in the implications of academies. Although I don’t want to see our schools turned into a vast comprehensive school.

“Louth schools have a good reputation and this was reflected in the exam results, so well done to James.”

Mr Lascelles added: “We were very pleased with our exam results, they were the best in the school’s history.”
