Cordeaux Academy has been recognised in the first Pupil Premium Awards.
Schools that are leading the way in helping students from disadvantaged homes to reach their potential have been named in the awards.
Cordeaux has been commended in the secondary school category. In a letter to the headteacher Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said: “I am absolutely delighted to tell you that the judges were highly impressed by Cordeaux Academy’s use of the Pupil Premium and it has been given a special commendation as one of the best secondary schools entering from the East Midlands region.
“This is a wonderful testimony to the excellent work that you and your staff have been doing to boost the attainment of disadvantaged pupils through your use of the Pupil Premium.
“Among other features, the judges were impressed by your school’s use of the Pupil Premium to develop thoughtful approaches to improvement and intensive support for your pupils.
“I hope that you and your colleagues will all be very pleased and rightly proud with this news.
“Please accept my warmest congratulations.”
