STUDENTS at Cordeaux School are taking part in a Flames initiative scheme devised by the British Heart Foundation and supported by East Lindsey District Council.
This Olympic inspired volunteering programme was set up to help to support the delivery of health based physical activity sessions to young people both within school and the local community.
The volunteering scheme aims to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, so the young leaders can develop leadership skills and to also promote the Olympic values.
Students in years eight and nine from Cordeaux are hard at work learning and practising leadership skills so they can deliver physical activity sessions to local primary schools.
These include children in year five at Lacey Gardens, St Michael’s and Kidgate primary schools and will start visiting the schools later on in the year.
The project will culminate in a sporting festival for the primary schools held at Cordeaux at a later date which will be organised and run by the volunteer Flames students.
Cordeaux is one of several local schools who are running different initiative schemes to encourage pupils to learn and action the Olympic and Paralympic values of respect, excellence, friendship, courage, determination, inspiration and equality.
