LOUTH has had the amazing opportunity to host the training of the Egyptian Powerlifiting Paralympic team at St Bernards School.This talented group of young individuals, who will shortly be competing at the London Paralympics games held a meet and greet session with locals at the Meridian Leisure Centre.
This fantastic cultural experience provided locals with the opportunity to ask the Egyptian team any burning questions they had followed by an inspirational speech by their coach, Amer el Handy about each Paralympian and their gold medal hopes in the games.
He said: “It was good to meet the local public and take photographs with some of the young children and students from St Bernards School.
“We’ve enjoyed our time in Lincolnshire and hope to win some medals in London”.
Lincolnshire Champion for the London 2012 Games, Coun Doreen Stephenson was there.
She said: “It was great to see so many people at today’s session and I hope it has inspired more people to get involved with the Paralympics, either as an athlete, spectator or volunteer.”
