ELDC chairman helped Air Ambulance and Royal British Legion

East Lindsey District Council’s outgoing Council Chairman, Coun Stan Avison, raised £2,300 during 2012-13 for two local charities.

The Coningsby and Tattershall Ward Councillor chose to support the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and the Royal British Legion’s benevolent fund – specifically to be used in the Conningsby and Tattershall areas.

Coun Avison said: “I chose to support these two very worthwhile charities because they are reliant on donations to carry out their good work. My year as chairman was very good with me attending 75 events to represent the District. We had the Queen’s Jubilee and the Olympics both during my time in office. I met some nice people and went to some great places. I even met the Queen at Burghley House for a picnic in the park and will be meeting her again at Buckingham Palace in June. It really has been an honour and a privilege.”

The money was raised at various fundraising events during Councillor Avison’s year in office, including a Civic Service, bowls tournament, sausage and mash quiz night and donations.

Louth Ward Councillor, Pauline Watson has been elected new Chairman of East Lindsey District Council for 2013/14 while North Somercotes Ward Councillor, Robert Palmer has been elected Vice-chairman.

Coun Avison added: “My advice to Councillor Watson on her year as chairman is to enjoy it. That is what it is for - represent East Lindsey and enjoy it.”
