A HUGE beach clean-up project is coming to Mablethorpe this Bank Holiday Monday.

The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project will be coming to our coastline, and organisers are looking for local volunteers to give their team to help remove rubbish from our beaches.

The Californian wine brand is working alongside Surfers Against Sewage to clean up the UK’s beaches having so far cleared 1.6 tonnes of debris from seven projects so far.

They will also be calling at Whitley Bay, Saltburn, Cleveland and Scarborough before reaching Mablethorpe as they work their way down the east coast.

Marine plastic litter is responsible for the deaths of over 1.5 million marine mammals and seabirds each year.

The full list of beach clean-up dates can be found at www.sas.org.uk.
