A keen angler who has opened his own fisheries in his back garden says he has fulfilled a ‘lifelong dream’.

Jeff Newens, along with partner Lynne Canfield, are opening the new fisheries in North Cotes tomorrow (Sunday) after five years of hard work.

Found in Jeff’s huge back garden in Fleetway, North Cotes Fisheries is surrounded by picturesque Lincolnshire farmland.

The new £5 per day site offers keen anglers the opportunity to fish without the need to pay a full membership and boasts two well-stocked lakes of a variety of fish; Carp (Common, Crucion and Mirror), Bream, Tench, Ide, Barbell, Chubb and Perch.

Owners Jeff Newens and Lynne Canfield moved to North Cotes in 2008 to enjoy village life and have been looking forward to the opening of the fishery since diggers arrived onsite over two years ago.

“Opening my own fishery has been something I’ve wanted to do all my life and is a dream come true,” he said.

“As a day ticket fishery, there’s no membership so anglers can come, fish and enjoy. We’re really looking forward to welcoming keen anglers to enjoy the lakes.”

North Cotes Fisheries will be opening up to the public at 7am on Sunday and will be open from 7am to 7pm every day of the week.
