Village hall meeting for farmer’s Authorpe turbine plans

A MEETING is being held at Authorpe Village Hall to discuss the possibility of a wind turbine being built in a farmer’s field in the village.

Swaby-based J Wharton (Agriculture) Ltd want to erect a turbine in their field in Authorpe.

Steve Wharton, the firm’s chairman and managing director said: “We’re very much in the early stages, but we want to discuss with local people to see what they think.

“Wind turbines can be a controversial issue, so we want to see what is suitable for the site.

“At the moment we use a diesel generator to run our big grain drier, and a turbine would make us much cleaner and reduce our carbon footprint.”

The meeting takes place at the Village Hall this Friday, February 24 at 7pm.
