WORK is underway to strengthen sewers in Mablethorpe as part of a £365,000 investment from Anglian Water.
The work to ‘future-proof’ the ageing sewer system includes Golf Road, Waterloo Road, Seacroft Road and the High Street.
Pipes will be re-lined with a soft felt ‘sock’ impregnated with resin which creates a robust lining using heat technology.
This then reduces the need to dig up roads for repairs.
In some places, piping has already collapsed, and those will be replaced before being lined.
Work was started last week and should finish in the spring.
No roads will need to be closed while work is carried out.
Anglian Water’s Sarah D’Arcy said: “Maintaining the structural integrity of the sewerage system is vital to prevent flooding and blockages.
“If a sewer collapses then it can cause lots of disruption and unpleasantness for local people.
“These sewers have performed well for many decades and this project will help ensure they continue to do so.”
The other roads being worked on are: The Fairway, Enterprise Road, Regent Road, Long Acre, Ivel Close, Ivel Grove, Sherwood Road, Windsor Road, Quebec Road, Admirality Road, George Street, Victoria Road, The Strand and High Gate.
