A SPECIAL pie has been made by the delicatessen at Sandilands Stores in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI).

Katherine and Mark Hallsworth have run the store on Sea Lane for the last year, opening up the delicatessen in May.

They originally planned to donate the pie as it was to the charity, but decided instead to give it away and encourage people to donate to the charity themselves. They’ve already had a donation of £20.

“We support the RNLI because of where we are. When we’ve had businesses before, we always try and support a local charity,” Katherine said.

The pie itself is a tasty festive mix of duck, pork, apricot and Store’s own Lincolnshire sausage, topped with stilton and black cherries.

Slices will be given away with a glass of mulled wine all day long at the store, known to many as the former post office, on Wednesday, December 22.

All donations taken will be given to the RNLI, who continue to operate through the winter season and over Christmas and New Year.
