Flowers tribute to village endeavour of 150 years ago

St Mary’s Church, Fotherby, will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the re-build and re-opening of this focal point in the village during the Bank Holiday Weekend of May 4 to 6.

A Flower Festival will be staged and flower arrangements will be presented by organisations which are based in the village, some of whom use the church for their meetings.

The Church Council will honour the memory of the individuals involved in the re-build, which transformed the 13th century church on the site, which had fallen into decay, into the warm and welcoming church it is today.

The Flower Festival will be open to visitors from 11am to 5pm each day. The church has become well known for serving delicious home-made refreshments and these will be available throughout the weekend.

A painting of the church is just one of the super prizes available in the raffle, which will be drawn at 4pm on the Monday.

A Service of Praise and Thanksgiving will be held on Tuesday May 7 at 7pm, the actual anniversary of the re-opening of St Mary’s, with

the Lord Bishop of Lincoln, the Rt Rev Christopher Lowson in attendance.
