Staff from a Louth food store are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for charity When You Wish Upon A Star.
Five staff from the Lincolnshire Co-op store in Newbridge Hill and the store in Burgh le Marsh will have just 12 hours to complete the 24 mile route taking in Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
The challenge was organised by three peaks veteran Storme Eddowes, Community Liason Representative at Newbridge Hill. However, a recent foot operation has ruled her out of the climb. Taking part are Helen Stainton, Rosie Lowther, Kat Dixon and James Crute from Newbridge Hill and Emma Ogden from Burgh le Marsh. Helen said: “We are all very excited about the challenge and have been training as much as we can in preparation.”
“We know it’s going to be tough but it’s a great cause, we’ve just got our fingers crossed for good weather!”
When You Wish Upon a Star is Lincolnshire Co-op’s Charity of the Year. The organisation aims to make wishes come true for children aged 2 to 16 who are suffering from life threatening or terminal illnesses. So far staff have raised more than £24,000 by taking part in a range of fundraising activities.
