Have your say

DO you have a garden to be proud of?

Then why not share the beauty of your garden with others, show off your handiwork and at the same time help children who have a life limiting illness by opening your garden to the public to in aid of St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice.

St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice is an independent charity that provides care for children and young adults up to 25 years of age who have a life limiting illness and support for their families.

The families currently receiving care come from all parts of the Hospice’s catchment area of Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire.

Hospice Events Organiser, Angela Greenfield, says: “We already have a number of people who are planning to support the hospice this year by opening their gardens and we are hoping that more people will join them.

“Keeping the hospice open currently costs around £1.2million per year and with only three per cent of this coming from government funding we are almost entirely dependent upon donations and fundraising to enable us to continue providing care for our patients.

“But, it is not all about raising funds! By opening their gardens people will not only be making a contribution towards helping us to raise the money that we need; they will also be helping to publicise the Hospice and the work that we do in their own town or village and the more people that get involved the more of an impact it will have.”

Anyone who chooses to take part will receive support from the Hospice in the form of media publicity, posters etc. A booklet with details of all open gardens will be available in garden centres, tourist information centres and other venues from the end of April and you may include details of any other open garden days you may be holding in the booklet.

If you wish to be included in the booklet then you must register your open garden day by no later than Friday 13.
