Good entry at cattle market with 44 cattle appearing in the fat ring

THERE was another good entry for the time of year at Louth Cattle Market on Thursday with 44 cattle through the fat ring averaging 176.83 ppk (£1,004).

The top price per kilogram in the fat cattle ring was a Lim x heifer from FE Read & Son of Hemingby weighing 508kgs and selling for 204.5 ppk to Lakings of Louth.

The top price heifer per head was £1,238 for a Charolais x from RA Hall of Old Leake.

The top price steer per kg was a Charolais x from RA Hall of Old Leake weighing 712 kgs and selling for 187.5 ppk to M Pickwell.

The top price per head was £1,335 for a Charolais steer also from RA Hall of Old Leake.

The top price per kg for a young bull was a British Blue x from F Wallis & Sons of Biscathorpe weighing 550 kgs and selling for 213.5 ppk.

The top price per head was a British Blue x from GB & M Wray & Son weighing 752 kgs and selling for £1,312 to A Wright & sons of Boston.

More cows are required at the market. A Lincoln Red from DL Lyle & Co of Owmby made 92.5 ppk (£560).
