Grainthorpe church secures £231,600 boost

St Clement's Church in Grainthorpe has secured £231,600 in funding thanks to a successful bid granted by the National Lottery.

The Parochial Church Council of Grainthorpe recevied confirmation of the funding last week.

This has been made possible thanks to National Lottery players and the funds from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) the project will carry out essential repairs to this 800-year-old Grade 1 listed building.

It will also improve the interpretation of the heritage of St Clements in order to enhance the experience of visitors to the church.

Commenting on the award, church warden Richard Drinkel said: “We are delighted that the Heritage Lottery Fund has given St Clements this support.

“It has been rewarding both financially and for our own personal satisfaction after three years of hard work with the application for the funding and development of the plans.”

Mr Drinkel added that they are really looking forward to seeing the results of the restoration project.

During the project essential conservation work will be carried out to ensure that St Clements church is in good condition for generations to come. There will also be the addition of 21st Century facilities, which will include a toilet and kitchenette.
