THERE was an ‘extraordinary’ trade through the fat cattle ring at Louth Cattle Market last Thursaday, averaging £1,076.

There was also a good entry of prime lambs with 574 sold on the day.

The top price per kilogram clean beast was a Lim x heifer from F E Read & Son of Hemingby weighing 485 kgs and selling for 211.5 ppk to C R Laking of Louth.

The top price heifer per head was £1,227 for a Sim x from C Sutton of Fulstow.

The top price steer per kilogram was for a Blond x from J C Scholey of Baumber weighing 555 kgs and selling for 198.5 ppk to A Wright & Son of Boston.

The top price steer per head was £1,361 for a Lim x from S Mossop Farms of Marshchapel.

The top price per kilogram for a young bull was a British Blue x from F Wallis & Son of Biscathorpe weighing 580 kgs and selling for 208.5 ppk.

The top price per head was a Lim x from E B & A Clarke of Minting weighing 632 kgs and selling for £1,248 to A Wright & Son of Boston.
