A CARER in Legbourne, near Louth, has been nominated for the Great East Midlands Care Awards thanks to her outstanding efforts in her work.

Debbie Firth, who has worked for Clarriots Care Home in Furze Lane since 2010, was nominated for the award by colleague Denise Treanor.

Debbie overcame breast cancer when she was 40 and since then has forged a career in her care practice. She has since completed her NVQ level 2 qualification in care practice and is now working towards level 3. She is aiming to become a senior carer with the company in the coming years.

She is also due to attend an interview in Nottingham, where judges will have the chance to meet her and size up her credentials for the regional awards gala in October.

If successful in the regional awards, Debbie will attend the national care awards in London later this year.

Denise, who nominated Debbie, said: “Debbie is dedicated to the service users for who she provides a service.

“She is reliable, honest, friendly and caring, and remains professional at all times, working within care standards, policies and procedures.

“Her care to clients is exceptional; she involves them in their care and works with people to maintain their independence.”
