A programme to encourage healthy eating and active lifestyles will begin in Louth this month.
Fit Kids is a free weight management programme for families with children aged eight to 11 years. The 12-week course is aimed at families with children who are overweight.
The sessions include fun and games, as well as healthy eating and lifestyle advice, and the course takes place in a fun and friendly group environment for the whole family.
Sarah Clarke, Physical Activity Manager at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “Leading a healthy lifestyle is a difficult thing to do; especially when life is already so busy. These courses help families to get the right balance; fitting in regular physical activity and eating a healthy diet.”
More than 500 families have taken part in the programme over the last two years, including 100 families in East Lindsey. With a better understanding of healthy eating and active lifestyles; the sessions have had a long lasting impact on most of the families.
Sarah said: “The changes we see over 12 weeks are incredible; children gain confidence, get fitter and the whole family is encouraged to lead a healthier lifestyle.”
The programme in Louth will start week commencing Monday 21st January 2013 and will take place on days and times and at venues which are most suitable for the families involved.
There are 12 places available on the programme for families in Louth.
