ST Barnabas Hospice, whose Sutton on Sea day care centre is due to close next month, is in negotiations with the Marisco Medical Centre in the town to provide locally based staff, the Leader can reveal.
The charity’s chief executive Sarah-Jane Mills made a presentation to the town council at Monday, August 15th’s Community Amenities meeting, when she revealed future plans for the area after the hospice closure.
Giving an overview of St. Barnabas she revealed that the current site in Trusthorpe Road will be sold on the market as either a care unit or as a dwelling following a successful change of use.
She stressed that the charity is keen to carry on its work in the local area and could provide locally based staff at the Marisco by January.
St. Barnabas staff work alongside existing care staff, including Marie Curie nurses, and provide medical services including advice, clinical and end of life care.
