LOCALS are supporting the Vision Aid Overseas appeal at the Louth Specsavers store in Mercer Row.
People are being asked to take in their old glasses and drop them in the collection bin.
They are then recycled and delivered to people suffering from poor eyesight in the developing world.
The international charity Vision Aid Overseas is dedicated to helping people in developing countries whose lives are blighted by poor eyesight.
In total, the charity estimates that some 670 million people – 10 per cent of the world’s population – are disadvantaged by poor vision and a lack of glasses.
