ADD some magic to the festive season by picking your own tree and embarking on a Christmas trail through woodland.
Once again Fillingham Trees, between Gainsborough and Lincoln, is offering this unique experience at an open weekend this Saturday and Sunday, November 26 and 27.
Take a tractor and trailer ride to the Christmas tree plantation where you can wander around to find a perfect Christmas centrepiece. The tree will then be tagged and cut for collection on a day to suit.
And the first 20 customers to pick their own tree will get free delivery within 10 miles.
To give the event a truly festive feel, and to raise money for local charities, there will also be a Christmas treasure hunt. Follow clues to find a present-laden Christmas tree and look out for Father Christmas, elves and polar bears.
Every treasure hunt entrant will receive a present and all completed trails will be entered into a draw to win a Christmas tree. Treasure hunt entry is £1.50 with all takings going to the Little Acorns Pre-school in Ingham.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy an undercover shopping area with gift ideas for the whole family, Christmas lights and decorations.
Welbourne’s Bakery, Jenny’s Jams, Pipers Crisps and Belvoir Cordials will be tempting shoppers with tastings of their delicious Lincolnshire produce too.
Hot and cold refreshments, including tea, coffee, cakes, bacon rolls and soup, will be served with all proceeds going to Fillingham Church.
The event takes place from 9am to 5pm on both days at Castle Farm, Fillingham – eight miles north of Lincoln and six miles east of Gainsborough on the B1398.
