A woman from Holton le Clay has appeared at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court to face a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, after she allegedly attacked her husband at a Grimsby market.

Julie Ballans, 54, of Southfield Road, allegedly attacked her husband, Dennis Ballans, on Tuesday (October 21). Mr Ballans is understood to be in a stable condition in hospital.

No formal plea was taken at the court hearing yesterday (October 22) but it is understood that Ballans will deny the charge. Her case has been sent to Grimsby Crown Court where she is due to appear on Friday November 14.

Ballans was initially granted conditional bail by the judge but, following an immediate appeal from the prosecution, she has been remanded in custody.
