A hustings event that would have included all of the local parliamentary candidates for Louth and Horncastle for the upcoming general election, which was due to take place tomorrow (Wednesday, April 15) at Louth Town Hall has been cancelled.

Some local residents have slammed the cancellation of the event due to the Conservative parliamentary candidate, Victoria Atkins being unable to attend.

Victoria commented: “This hustings event was initially set up to take place on Thursday and then a few weeks ago, I found out that the date had been changed to Wednesday, having already had the initial date booked in since January.

“I had already had an engagement booked in my diary for the Wednesday and after my best efforts to change this meeting, it simply was not possible and then I found out on Monday that the event had been cancelled.

“But there is a further hustings event set up to take place in Louth on April 22 and another event in Mablethorpe on April 29 and I will be attending both of these.”
