A whole host of Christmas activities are heading to the coast and an added bonus, for the first time ever, will be ice rink in Sutton on Sea.
After securing Councillor Community Grants from Stuart Watson, Steve Palmer, Anne Reynolds and Anne Veasey, the Sutton on Sea Residents Association have been successful in gaining an ice rink as an extra attraction for the town’s festive market.
The event takes place on Saturday, December 6 at The Bacchus Hotel from 11am-8pm.
Alongside the ice rink, there will be an number of craft stalls and free entertainment for children.
Chairman of the Sutton on Sea Residents Association Adrian Benjamin said: “We’re all really excited to have this ice rink come to Sutton on Sea. It’s going to be something great for the children to do and for those who are unable to get out onto the ice, it’s also going to be a great spectacle to watch.
“It moved me when one of the first families came to me to buy tickets and said it was great to finally have a real fun attraction on the doorstep without having to travel over an hour to get somewhere.”
The ice rink will be open and ready for action from 12noon up until 8pm with half hour sessions on offer, which will include five minutes being taken for fitting and taking off the skates which are provided on the day.
The sessions are on offer for £4 and can be booked in advance at £3 each or at £10 for groups of four.
Tickets are available at Sutton on Sea Post Office, Lullaby’s in Mablethorpe and the Hairport in Alford.
There will also be skating aids for the children.
Additional funds have been given by the Big Local Coastal Community Challenge and further business sponsorship, which is enabling special cut rates for school or youth groups. For more details on this, contact Adrian Benjamin on 01507 443 327.
